For her her latest collaboration with Murobond, Sibella Court has drawn on a palette inspired by the palimpsest of Sydney’s native landscape and the original structures built upon it.
Palimpsest (n)
/ˈpalɪm(p)sɛst/
something reused or altered but still bearing visible traces of its earlier form. Latin palimpsestus, from Greek palimpsēstos, scraped again
…the ghosts of what was once there –
in landscape, structure and object.
For this latest collaboration with Murobond Sibella has drawn on a palette inspired by the palimpsest
of Sydney’s native landscape and the original structures built upon it.
Sibella has drawn her palette from souvenirs of the native landscape layered with the colours of remnants of common
place objects from the1800s:
pink angophoras; Sydney peppermint;
scribbly bark; acacia;
flannel flowers
and other flora that thrives on the ochre
rainbow that is Sydney sandstone,
….
hand printed wallpapers; faded tessellated tiles; marbled book ends; passementries
and Drabware.
